Transparent Facilitation

(Winning Teams brochure copy)

The best facilitation is transparent. Things just flow effortlessly. Nobody has to yell to get attention, nobody feels hurt or put down, nobody has to dominate, everyone feels heard, and key information isn't withheld until the group disperses into the hall or the parking lot. Facilitation is one of the essential challenges continually faced by anyone who aspires to be a good leader. Often, the challenge of leadership is the challenge of delegation, especially when you are not in charge but you know what needs to be done, or you are in charge but just giving directions won't work.

As a leader, how does one get one's colleagues on the same page, both with you and each other? If they had been through what you have, then they would be able to grasp what you see, add their wisdom, and the job would get done. What if there were a way to lead your colleagues, employees, and superiors quickly and efficiently through a thinking and learning process similar to what you have been through?

Each member of the group has much wisdom to contribute. You have an overview and strategic responsibility that is yours alone. How do you elicit their wisdom, allow them to get inside your experience of the whole situation and add to your clarity about what to do next? Have you ever wished you could just hook your brain to theirs and just download certain images, information, and direction?

Einstein said, "Everything should be made as simple as possible, and no simpler". What if you could compress days, months or even years of experience into an hour or two, in such a way that productive and sustained action is the result? If you had an ethical tool for gently manipulating groups to positive outcomes, would you use it?

Winning Teams empowers a leader by designing consensus- building conversations for all kinds of groups, from one-on-one to business teams to multi-stakeholder coalitions. The methods we use draw people into voluntarily arriving at conclusions that will serve them both individually and as the larger whole. With our clients, we design the experience by customizing questions which lead people on a planned journey for focused learning and then supporting them in choosing to take concerted action.

The real challenge in transparent facilitation is in the preparation of a group's journey. Our focus is the participatory design of facilitated meetings so as to assure that all of the insights of both the leadership and the participants are included, and then are synthesized into a new level of integration for everyone concerned.

Leaders need to do everything possible to assure that as much of the combined wisdom present is integrated into a discussion, this approach guarantees an optimum outcome and often results in significant breakthroughs. Winning Teams will help you achieve your possibilities.
